Mental Health Gamification project

The Problem: This is a game design created to solve the problem of mental health issues in the work place. So many people are facing the pressures of a work-life balance in the midst of a global pandemic, inflation, and all of the stressors in our world. This program aims to support these people by giving them strategies to support their mental health.

My Role: I started by creating a learner persona, identifying motivators of our intended audience. I then created business objectives, and designed an interactive game based on these two concepts. I based which game mechanics I used on the learner's motivators and made sure that each step of the game addressed a need that would help reach the business goal.

Math Fact Fluency Gamification Project

The Problem: Students today often don't memorize their math facts. The amount of curriculum that teacher's must cover doesn't allow for a lot of time spent on rote memorization. These facts are a basic skill that should be memorized by all.

My Role: I created a game prototype to help engage students in their memorization. I identified an area of need, created learner personas to help identify their motivators, planned game mechanics and created a story line. This game would be a piece of the curriculum, but would be supported with students practicing flashcards and timed quizzes in the classroom. Once they master each set of facts, they would play that level of the game.
